It is my opinion that we are now living in a time of sifting, a time when people are making choices that will result in their being sifted to the Lord's right or to his left hand, to being sheep or goats, wheat or tares.

I haven't heard it first hand but some people are reporting that some of the Senior Brethren are warning of times of trouble ahead of us that are going to be deeper and wider than we are being led to believe. They are saying that it is of vital importance that we remain close to the church right now and that if there was ever a time to attend our meetings, pay our tithing and do those things that will help bring us closer to our Lord and Savior, the time is now. One of the Twelve is reported to have said that the Brethren are aware of what is going on in the world and that the church is prepared to deal with whatever adversity falls upon it. We need to prepare for the prospect of sacrifice and enduring trials and tests of faith.

What do you think?

There's no question that this is that time. And yes the Bretheren are preparing us and helping us i understanding that things are going to get much worse.

This Months Ensign is a perfect example. There are 3 articles on Spiritual and Physical preparedness. Also there have been state wide stake conferences in Texas New Mexico and Oklahoma simultaniously in which there was a satilite broadcast from SLC. President Uchdorft presiding. That was 2 Sunday's ago. My wife and I have some dear friends who just moved from our ward to a ward in texas and they called to tell us about the message that was given in that conference. The message was get yourself spiritually prepared for the trials and tribulation that are coming. Stay Close to the church, pay tithing attend meetings, attend the temple, Help our brothers and sisters whom we can. do home teaching and visiting teaching.

We have some friends living in Texas... they are telling it is really getting texas there... he was shot at, while driving on a highway. He could see the bullet holes in the car. I think it is dangerous as it has been so easy to buy a gun out there. What good is a gun against a mobb with guns!?

A gun is just a tool, like a hammer. It can take lives and it can save lives, it's entirely up to the person holding it. I'd much sooner be holding a loaded weapon and thus have a chance rather than just be shot with no hope by that "mobb with guns." I am grateful that I live in a country where the citizens are allowed to own tools to defend themselves, their family, and others with if need be.

The good of having a gun against a mob with guns is they know they will have someone shoot back therefore detering the threat of the mob firing upon you.

I woul dnever Kill someone with my 9mm Smith and Wesson unless they threatened my life, my liberty, my wife, my children, and my right to defend myself.

During the Saints trek west one of the rules of the wagon company was every man was to have a working fire arm and it was to be well serviced and with in reach in a moments notice.

Unfortunately Armed conflict has existed since Cain and Able. But God has given to us the right to defend ourselves with deadly force if necessary.

If were to read the Commandment Thou Shalt not Kill correctly it is actually Thou shalt not do murder. Killing is ending life by external means. Murder is Killing with the intent to end that life because of Pride.

I too am glad for the right to keep an bear arms. I pray I may never have to use my gun.
